We never dreamed we’d end up with something this good.
‘Dave Neal turned our fuzzy idea for a deck-cum-carport into an architectural masterpiece that has completely changed our lives. He guided us from the initial design to the end, managing all the plans and engineering guff and answering our inane questions and requests with patience, professionalism and the obvious weight of many years’ experience.
We learned that it’s standard for Dave to do things the better way, not just the normal way. Like the fiddly work in how he runs his stainless steel wires that takes a lot longer but looks a million dollars in the finish. He and his boys were on time every day, and Dave always answered his phone and my emails. Dave and his talented crew have transformed our standard ex-defence elevated house into an open, seamless and beautifully finished space in the treetops that our family joyously spills on to every day.’

‘Ours was an extensive renovation—only three walls of the original building were remaining. The project began at the start of May and, as promised, by August we moved into our dream home. When we describe DN Building, the key words are exceptional, flexible, timely, professional, friendly, problem solvers, a keen eye for detail and ‘aim for perfection’.
Dave always accommodated any changes we wanted to make, offering advice about the best way to achieve what we wanted and always with an eye on the budget.
We highly recommend Dave Neal and his wonderful team.’

‘DN Building did extensive renovations to our home, and our experience has been nothing but positive. Dave continually updated us with progress, always listened and was especially helpful when we needed to make decisions. We’ve found Dave to be honest and reliable and his workmanship is exceptional. This and his strong work ethic and calm manner ensured we later went back to Dave for more work.’
Chris and Liz Hochman, Carnoustie Cct, Mararra
‘If you want a renovation done on time and on budget, with a professional approach, DN Building is the right company for the job. Nothing was a hassle for Dave—he is personable and has a friendly manner with a ‘can do’ attitude, which made my renovation stress free. Dave has a good carpentry team and engages other quality trades when required (that actually turn up).’
Craig O’Halloran, Larrakeyah
‘From day one Dave and his team delivered an outstanding service—we were continually updated on the progress of the renovation, the entire process ran smoothly and it was completed on time. The quality of tradespeople DN Building uses is reflected in the final product, and we now have a family home that we’re very proud of.’

‘Shrek’ and the Goldilock’s Castle
Once upon a time, there were landowners who needed to renovate their castle. The roof was leaking, the kitchen in ruins, walls needed repair or replacement, and the whole top storey and balconies were in poor condition. They thought long and hard about what they wanted, and developed detailed plans to make a caste that was not only weather-proof and secure, but also beautiful. When they felt satisfied with their plans, they invited builders to come and quote, thinking that it would be easy to find someone, having put so much thought and work into their design. To their surprise, builder after builder declined, with claims such as “it’s too small for me”, “it’s too big for me”, and “it’s too weird for me”. Years went by, with the castle slowly falling apart.
The owners were rather disillusioned and depressed, thinking they would never find a builder that thought the job was “just right”. Then one day, ‘Shrek’ came to the ruined castle that no builder wanted to touch, and with the owners who had too many weird notions. At first, the owner’s sheepishly revealed their plans – expecting the familiar range of reactions – bewilderment, objection, and patronisation. But Shrek merely listened and discussed how the plans might be possible, within the rules of the land.
After years of waiting, it seemed that in the wink of an eye, the old, damaged and ugly elements were removed, the existing attractive features restored and improved, and new, beautiful elements were constructed. There were frequent negotiations about how the owner’s preferences might be achieved, and Shrek’s team were not only quick, but maintained a high standard of work. The team were respectful of the owner’s preferences (although at times thought to be weird) and produced outcomes that regularly exceeded the expectations of the owners.
The castle was restored, and is beautiful. The owners (hopefully) live happily ever after.
Thank you Dave, Sarah and the ‘crew’ for making the build feel like a fairy tale that came true!
